Honoring all those who served, thank you Veterans!
Wherever you are – at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, take a moment to think about the words of an unknown author, written many years ago:
“A single poppy holds the souls of a thousand soldiers and the tears of a million loved ones.”
The poppy’s origin as a symbol of remembrance lies in the Flanders’ battlespaces of the First World War. Poppies were a common sight, especially on the Western Front. They grew in great numbers in the soil churned up by the fighting and shelling.
Quote from C.K. Chesterton:
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”
