  • About the Doctor:Jen Simonson, OD, FCOVD is the clinical director of the Boulder Valley Vision Therapy Center. Originally from the small village of Leesburg, Ohio she attended the Ohio State University for both an undergraduate degree in Biology and her doctorate in Optometry. She interned in Ardmore, Oklahoma with the Chickasaw Tribe and in San Diego, California in vision therapy. She completed her Fellowship with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in 2006 and was awarded the 2007 Colorado Young Optometrist of the Year. She is currently serving as the vice chair of the International Examination and Certification Board (IECB) and is the Speaker Chair of the Colorado Vision Training Conference. Her primary interests in practice include pediatric vision care, vision therapy, sports therapy, and vision rehabilitation. Dr. Simonson has completed optometry mission trips to Honduras and the Dominican Republic. She is the author of several pictures books for children about vision therapy and has written two text book chapters. Her case report on Monovision Syndrome was recently published in Vision Development & Rehabilitation. Dr. Simonson is the co-administrator of the VTODs (Vision Therapy Optometrists) group on Facebook with over 4,000 international members. Dr. Simonson loves to hike, ski, and stand-up paddleboard with her husband and three sons.

  • About The 2nd Doctor:Caitlyn Wong, OD is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry, where she completed her training through the institution’s selective Pediatric Concentration program and was the recipient of the Ira Schwartz Behavioral Vision Award for excellence in pediatric optometry in 2019. Dr. Wong is deeply passionate about equitable access to quality optometric care for children in underserved communities. Dr. Wong was an active participant in Lion’s Club vision screenings, the Prevent Blindness Massachusetts initiative, and with the Perkins School of the Blind. She has continued to pursue community activism here in Colorado by working alongside the Von’s Vision Foundation. Dr. Wong’s past experience at a vision therapy clinic showed her first-hand the enormous impact that exceptional and timely vision therapy can have on children. Her experiences and clinical training have shaped Dr. Wong’s aspirations to be a developmental optometrist with a strong passion for working in vision therapy.

    Our vision therapy center is devoted to developing, improving, and enhancing visual skills including focusing, tracking, eye alignment and coordination. We also work to improve visual processing and recover visual performance after illness or injury.
