- About the Doctor:Dr. Morand currently lives in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He attended the University of Notre Dame and Xavier University for undergraduate studies, and graduated from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1979. Soon after, in 1980, he opened his Optometry practice in Loveland, Ohio. In 2011 he earned a certificate in Clinical and Translational Research from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Morand joined the staff of Veterans Affairs (VA), in Dayton, Ohio, where he provided low vision care for blind and visually impaired Veterans. At the VA, he had the opportunity to participate in research grants, such as the investigation of visual training of Veterans who had returned from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan with history of traumatic brain injury. He was also a local site investigator for the Low Vision Intervention Trial II (LOVIT ll study), conducted at multiple sites. Over the years he volunteered to offer Optometric services in India, Ukraine, Honduras, and Dominican Republic. He is passionate about continuing optometric education and has guest lectured for regional Optometric conferences and local VA Medical Centers. Dr. Morand retired from the VA in November, 2023. In his free time, he enjoys running (he completed the Boston Marathon in 2023), golf, hiking, cooking, the study of archeoastronomy (and kids’ sports events).
Retired from Advanced Low Vision Clinic a the Dayton VA Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio after serving in Veterans Affairs for more than twenty two years.
