NATIONAL READ A BOOK DAY is observed annually on September 6th.
National Read a Book Day invites us ALL to grab a book we might enjoy and spend the day reading.
Reading is a great hobby, and often a necessity to get through daily life, but it can be hard to enjoy if you experience eye strain or trouble seeing fine print.
So, remind your patients: there is no need to put the book down! Keep your eyes happy and healthy with an annual eye exam and when needed vision therapy! Don’t keep your vision struggles to yourself.
Allow yourself to be ready to share the reading experience! Read aloud either to children or to grandparents. Read to your pets or to your stuffed animals and plants. Reading improves memory and concentration as well as reduces stress. Older adults who spend time reading show a slower cognitive decline and tend to participate in more mentally stimulating activities over their lifetime. Books are an inexpensive entertainment, educational tool and time machine too! Don’t miss out.
