Topic:
Our goal is to discuss the multidisciplinary management between a Postural Restoration practitioner and a Functional Behavioral Optometrist to give better quality care to the patient. The Postural Restoration (PRI)® approach is a distinctive model that offers a tri-planar framework to diagnose and address human movement dysfunctions. Through collaboration with dentists and optometrists, postural restoration providers integrate the visual and oral systems to achieve comprehensive recovery for patients. The effectiveness of PRI’s extensive training model lies in its asymmetrically targeted techniques that specifically work with the autonomic nervous system and the integration between therapists and neuro-optometrists.
Since May 2022 both Dr. Daniella Rutner, OD, FCOVD, SUNY Optometry & Aleena Kanner, PRT, ATC, have been delivering collaborative care to patients in New York City. Integrating Postural Restoration techniques and concepts into the field of optometry has proven to be beneficial, yielding positive results in patient care. We aim to demonstrate to the audience how we are utilizing the asymmetrical principles of PRI in conjunction with optometric care to bring lasting changes.
