Description: This course reviews topical and oral ophthalmic medications and their use in the pediatric population. FDA approvals and dosage of various medication classes relevant to the optometrist will be reviewed including antibiotic, anti-allergic, and anti-inflammatory drugs. Relevant cases will be reviewed throughout the presentation.

Instructor Bio

Denise Alexopoulos is an assistant professor and clinical attending at the Illinois College of Optometry/Illinois Eye Institute (ICO/IEI). She completed a residency in Pediatric & Infant Vision at the State University of New York College of Optometry. At ICO, she supervises third- and fourth-year students in the Pediatric & Binocular Vision clinic, coordinates a clinical methods lab for first year students, and serves on several committees. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and participates in research with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group.
