eBook Visual Training (2 Part Set)-Visual Training Preliminary Considerations Pt 1 and The Problem of Subnormal Vision and Amblyopia Pt 2
$66.00
This two-volume bundle brings together the first and second parts of the seminal works of Dr. Frederick W. Brock, originally published in Optometric Weekly between 1947 and 1957. Rediscovered and preserved through the efforts of the Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF), these writings represent a historically significant contribution to optometric thought and clinical understanding.
The project was initiated by Dr. Sue Barry, who possessed portions of Dr. Brock’s original writings but was missing part of the series. Through extensive archival research at the Southern College of Optometry—founded in 1932 and home to the complete Optometric Weekly collection—the full series was located and carefully restored. Prior to publication, OEPF secured legal permission to republish the material, including the gracious consent of Dr. Brock’s daughter, who expressed deep appreciation that her father’s work continues to be valued today .
Each volume was meticulously scanned, converted from original print to modern digital formats, and reviewed for accuracy by student volunteers. Images were restored, tables recreated, and the text lightly edited to correct production and original publication errors while preserving the author’s original voice and intent. The project, interrupted at times by the global pandemic and other challenges, ultimately became a true labor of passion .
Together, these two volumes offer readers an opportunity to engage deeply with Dr. Brock’s work as it was intended—now accessible once again more than seventy years after its initial publication. This bundle is ideal for clinicians, educators, historians, and anyone interested in the foundations of modern optometric thought.
