Photosensitivity is a common symptom in both inherited and acquired neurological conditions. While all of us encounter circumstances where the amount or quality of light is bothersome, these patients have a lower threshold for light tolerance.
Pupil testing is a good, objective measure of neurological function and important tool in any eye care provider’s toolkit. While there are only a handful of pupillary disorders, there are a number of etiologies that can produce them ranging from benign findings to life-threatening emergencies.
