Specialty Sports Vision Course – November 2026

Course Description

Unlock Elite Performance | 4-Hour Intensive | Real-World Sports Cases applicable to specific sports

Are you ready to go beyond the basics of sports vision? This New 4-hour specialty course digs deeper into the visual demands of high-performance athletes, offering you a practical, case-based approach to elevating care for sports professionals—and those recovering from concussion or mTBI. This course focuses on baseball and softball.

Led by Dr. JJ Lant, this course is designed for optometrists and Vision Therapists trained in the OEPF Clinical Curriculum and sports vision course, who want to learn how to make a real difference—not just with protective eyewear or contact lenses, but by optimizing the actual performance potential of athletes.

As a continuation from our introductory sports vision course, this sport specific course will focus on the details and nuances of baseball and softball that sports vision training can help athletes enhance their performance. Will discuss different aspects of the game, its positions and skills, and how vision training can be tailored to each athlete. We will discuss ways to conduct a sport vision assessment specific to these sports. We also will learn how to adapt and enhance vision therapy techniques to apply it in this sports vision context, plan and execute fun and engaging training sessions, and set athlete specific goals to accomplish through the training process. This course will help you add or update your sports vision training for baseball and softball athletes of any level.

Stay tuned for other courses on on other sports like golf, American football, basketball, soccer, and racquet sports.

Course Highlights

Our instructor will share their over 100 years experience in running co-management practices and provide you with the basis to get you started. Case presentation and information on handling insurance.

Each participant receives a complete manual of all VT procedures, homework sheets, procedure grids, explanations and all materials to get you up and running immediately.

Mastering the procedures is not the key. It is the principles stressed by each technique and the ability to help the patient experience the process that is unique to the Clinical Curriculum.

The Visual Dysfunction course is a prerequisite for the Learning Related Visual Problems and the Strabismus & Amblyopia courses. This is often

the first course taken by vision therapists. The Clinical Curriculum faculty has been very successful at making the new therapist comfortable with being in the same class as more experienced therapists, as well as with optometrists. For a therapist to attend a course, the normal procedure is that they may either attend the course with their OD or the OD must have attended a Clinical Curriculum course at a prior date.
