This Interactive VT Workshop will Dissect VT procedure to look at effective variations/modifications that worked. 6 hours 2 sessions of 6 hours per day, total of 12 hours.

Tom worked his way through college as a vision therapist and graduated from San Jose State University with Great Distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance and two minors, one in Spanish and one in Humanities. After his graduation, Tom realized he wanted to continue to make a positive impact on people’s lives, so he continued his work as a vision therapist for Dr. Bradford G. Murray for 20 years serving as his Director of Vision Therapy. Currently, Tom works in two offices in the San Francisco Bay Area– Optometric Center for Family Vision Care & Vision Therapy in San Carlos, California with Dr. Carole Hong, O.D. FCOVD, as well as with Dr. Ben Popilskyin Aptos, California.

Course Description

  • To help vision therapists to develop appropriate sequentialized and individualized vision therapy programs for their patients.

  • To help vision therapists critically analyze patient performance in order to adjust the flow of a vision therapy program.

  • To help vision therapists to develop appropriate modifications to their vision therapy procedures to further both the optometric and patient vision therapy goals.

  • To help vision therapists to brainstorm possible alternatives to existing vision therapy procedures to accomplish appropriate training in the visual skills the patient needs

Bio

In2003, Tom co-authored a training manual for vision therapists entitled, The Vision Therapist’s Toolkit. He also started his own vision therapy products company, Headline Vision Enterprises. In 2006, Tom was awarded the Certified Optometric Vision Therapist of the Year by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, andin2009, he received the Lora McGraw Award from the California Regional Vision Therapists’ Forum. He served as the Chair for the Vision Therapists Education Committee for COVD from2009-2017, and as a mentor for COVT candidates. He currently serves as Chair for the Vision Therapist’s Education Committee which has recently launched Online Study Groups for vision therapists. Tom has spoken both Internationally and within the United States. Over the past five years, he has conducted educational training seminars in the Philippines to optometrists throughout Asia about implementing vision therapy in their own practices.
