  • About The 2nd Doctor:Words that describe Dr. Kapp? Genuine, perceptive, trustworthy Dr. Sydney Kapp grew up in Dallas, Texas. She attended undergrad at Washington University in St. Louis, earning a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, and then ventured across town to the University of Missouri - St. Louis College of Optometry to obtain her doctorate in optometry. Following graduation, she was called to the Pacific Northwest. There, she completed her residency program in Portland, Oregon, specializing in pediatric optometry and visual rehabilitation. During residency, she gained experience treating children with strabismus (eye misalignment), amblyopia (lazy eye), and vision-related learning difficulties, as well as treating patients of all ages with acquired or traumatic brain injuries. Dr. Kapp is active in the local eyecare community. She regularly gives lectures to help other eyecare practitioners enhance their knowledge in topics of myopia management, children’s vision, eye disease and vision therapy. She is an InfantSEE provider, giving babies from 6-12 months their first eye exam. She also works with Evergreen Hospital at parent-baby classes discussing infant vision development. She has presented posters at annual College of Optometrists in Vision Development meetings on topics related to vision therapy. She is currently further researching the realm of myopia management to better provide a full-scope of care to pediatric patients. When not in the office, you can find her playing frisbee with her black lab, Murphy. In the rest of her free time, you can find her out hiking or kayaking, supporting the Seattle Kraken (or the Dallas Stars if they’re in town), or planning her next big PNW adventure.
