We are trained in developmental optometry and start seeing patients as early as 6 months of age to screen for binocular and eye health conditions. We follow patients throughout their vision development and into the mature stages of life as well. We have active vision therapy clinics in both our Lutz and Oldsmar offices. Additionally, we offer Optometric Multisensory Therapy (OMST) in our Lutz office. Dr. Nicholas Thomas is a fellow of the College of Optometry and Vision Development (COVD) and Dr. Amy Carlyle is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO). We see patients with special needs and brain injury and both doctors are candidates for the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA).
The practice was established in 1957 by Dr. John “Jack” Walesby, Sr., where he began doing vision therapy with one therapist and treated 4 to 6 therapy patients per day, in addition to providing comprehensive eye care for the entire family. His son, Dr. Rob Walesby, joined him in 1992 and carried on the tradition until retirement. In 2006, Dr. Thomas joined the practice and took over as the Clinical Director of Therapy.
